The Church: A Mystery Revealed

What exactly is the Church? Paul describes it as a mystery, not because God wants to keep us guessing, but because it was something once hidden and now revealed. The Old Testament already taught that God would bless the nations, so Gentile salvation itself was not the mystery. The mystery revealed through the apostles is that believing Jews and Gentiles are now “fellow heirs, members of the same body” in Messiah (Ephesians 3:6). The Church was not God's backup plan. It was part of His purpose all along, revealed when He chose.
Over four Thursdays in May, The Church: A Mystery Revealed will explore what this means. We will look at the mystery hidden for ages, the “one new man” of Ephesians 2, the Church as the body and bride of Messiah, and finally the question of whether the Church has replaced Israel. Along the way, we will see that understanding the Church helps us understand our Bibles, God's continuing purposes for Israel, and our own place in His unfolding plan.
